May Update: 11 Social Media Tips

11 Tips For Better Social Media

We all know that social media is important for brand awareness, but like most things, it’s easy to fall into ruts or run out of ideas.

We polled our team for some of the best social media tips they have. Special thanks to Gloria and Jordan for providing most of these - they are our social media experts, after all!

If this list this feels overwhelming, that’s fine. Just choose 2-3 to get started…

  1. Post consistently: following a random schedule isn’t going to keep you in front of customers.
  2. Batch your posts: you don’t need to take time every week for a new post. Instead, you can schedule all your posts once a month. Please let us know if you aren’t sure how to do this…
  3. Use real-life images: while having professional photos is valuable, real-life images taken with a phone often have higher engagement.
  4. Use videos: we can’t stress this enough - videos work! And don’t worry if it’s “just a phone video”; they are just (if not more) effective than professional content!
  5. Follow similar accounts: know of another business similar to yours with amazing social media? There’s no shame in following them to learn some of their tricks.
  6. Repurpose content: have a blog post or email that got great feedback? Use it as the base for a series of posts and free up some precious brain space.
  7. Use relevant hashtags: we’ve found the sweet spot for hashtags is the 3-5 range. You want the algorithm to know what the post is about, but we want to save readers “hashtag fatigue” (you know what we’re talking about…)
  8. Keep your text short: keep posts short and easy to understand (see what I did there 😎)
  9. Respond to comments quickly: yes, this takes time, but engaging quickly and consistently with customers does two things:
    1. It shows people you care.
    2. It shows the algorithm that you are active and engaging, which can help boost the post.
  10. Respond to negative comments: you don’t have to agree with the nay-sayers, but responding kindly shows everyone that you are nice and want to serve your customers.
  11. Know your audience: the words, images, colors, emojis, and everything else needs to connect with your target audience, not alienate them.

Blue Flower Moments - sharing small moments of joy

One of the weekly rhythms we have at LifeX Marketing is what we call “Blue Flower Moments.” Team members share something that brought a small moment of joy to their day or week.

The tradition started a few years ago when I was taking a walk with my 2-year-old. I had an agenda for the walk and a time I wanted to be back home, but she just wanted to enjoy the walk.

You probably know how those kinds of walks go 😉.

As we passed a small flowerbed, she stopped to ooh and ahh over some small blue flowers. And as I watched her soak in the flower’s beauty, I realized what I needed to do.

I had to look for more Blue Flower Moments - little moments that bring joy to my life.

I introduced it to the team, and for a few years now we have Blue Flower Moments in our Thursday morning meetings.

It’s been interesting doing it as a team for 2 reasons:

  1. It makes us think over the past week and look for moments of joy
  2. We learn more about each other and the little things in each other’s lives

Have you had a recent Blue Flower Moment? Would you be willing to share it with us? We’d love to hear it - click here and drop it in a comment!

Here’s one of my latest:

My daughter traced my handprint on a piece of paper and used it as a template for a coloring page. Yes, my hand is large, but not as thick as an oven mitt 😂

Introducing the Working Genius from Patrick Lencioni & The Table Group!

We are excited to announce that we have a certified Working Genius facilitator on the LifeX team!

Emily Smucker has completed the training, led our team through it internally, and worked with a few clients on it.

Wondering what this "Working Genius" thing is?

No worries, we didn't know about it until a few years ago either!

To introduce the Working Genius and help you better understand what makes you (and your team) tick at work, Emily will be sending out a series of emails exploring the six types of working genius, and how identifying your geniuses and frustrations can enhance your business performance.

Stay tuned for the upcoming emails!

Meet Emily Smucker, Our Certified Working Genius Facilitator

Emily is always ready to have a good time, and anytime there's a robust conversation at LifeX, you can guess that Emily is somewhere in the middle of it.

She has well-formed, articulate thoughts, and is a great, open-minded listener as well.

Here at LifeX Marketing, she is our Certified Working Genius Facilitator and WIDGET expert. Not sure what all those words or letters mean? Don’t worry, we’ll be sending out more information on them soon!

As one of our copywriters, she also combines her love of ideas with her writing skills, finding the interesting tidbits hidden in the mundane and crafting content that’s rich in well-researched ideas.

When she’s not writing, Emily likes to explore whimsical places, create clothing and home décor from discarded items, and dabble in a little theater.

Monthly Meme

For over a year now, we’ve been hearing all the things about ChatGPT, AI, and everything else. And while AI has a lot of great uses, there are a lot of things it still doesn’t quite get 😃

How Can We Pray For You Or Rejoice With You?

Thank you to those who provide prayer requests - our team appreciates the opportunity to bring your requests to God in prayer in our Monday morning meetings and throughout the week.

It’s part of our mission at LifeX Marketing: Multiplying wholeness in the lives of our team, clients, and communities by living like Jesus.

If you have a way we can pray with your team or rejoice with you, please leave it here.
